Cocktail of the Week!
It's flu season. It's also wet and cold. What do you do when you're sick and you want something that both soothes your throat, makes you feel better, and packs a kick that will help you rest? Back in simpler days my solution was to quaff a shot of Everclear, but that's really not safe for anyone who is no longer invincible (males under the age of 25 in general). My mother would have recommended garlic soup but I'm having trouble polishing that recipe into something I could call a cocktail.
Fear not! I have a solution, so pull your blankets up and ring that little bell by the bed because help is on the way...

The old cheap whisky vs new cheap whisky hoax
I was the lucky (?) recipient of a bottle of Scotch whisky when the last of my parents passed away in 2001. It's an interesting story not because of the way I came about this bottle but with the indignity with which I treated it. You may or may not know the brand but it's Inver House "Green Plaid" Very Rare Scotch Whisky. Yeah... that Scotch whisky, the one that costs $10 in the liquor store. Well you already must suspect where this is going so read on...
Cocktail of the Week!
Today's cocktail will get you started and keep you going. I hate to seem cliché, but this really is a phenomenal cocktail and you need to try it if you never have. We first experienced this at Stephen Starr's Atlantic City Continental Restaurant. Stephen Starr creates wonderful restaurants and has turned the Philadelphia scene into one worth going out for. The Continental started in Philly but they made a second version in AC and it's a must go, for cocktails and food. I'll probably never get to actually thank Mr. Starr for all the good times and good food I've had because of him, but I'll say it here anyway - Thank you!

The cocktail I am referring to is a modern concoction blending the best of the European cafe with the best of trick vodka drinks. It is none other than the Espresso Martini!
Cocktail of the Week!
There are classic cocktails and there are modern cocktails. Today's cocktail is quite modern, being only 30 years old, and despite that it still has disputed roots. What is obvious though, is that this is a derivation of the kamikaze, a very nice vodka shooter if I do say so myself. What is also quite obvious is that this is one of the rare blends that completely covers the potency of the drink, beckoning you to have just another sip, just one more cocktail.

I am referring to the perennial modern classic, the cosmopolitan! (Extra credit if you can identify this iconic image!)
Cocktail of the Week!
I'm really excited to bring you today's Cocktail of the Week. It's probably one you've never had and maybe even never heard of. Alice's father had a close friend from Argentina who was just an amazing man. He existed in a world that is all but gone today; always immaculately dressed, brown before 6 and black after. He raced Velocettes and Ferraris and he knew his cocktails. He used to talk about one which for whatever reason just went in one ear and out the other, probably because we didn't know what he was talking about.

His name was Guillermo Frascino, and the cocktail he often spoke of was the Pisco Sour...
