Cocktail of the Week!

by Jack Email

Some of you may find today's Cocktail of the Week frustrating. Trust me and relax, it won't be. In fact, if you can just sit back and keep an open mind for just a minute or two we'll all be much happier. Today's cocktail is not the Manhattan, but Alice's father's Manhattan.

Follow up:

You all know a typical Manhattan cocktail. Cherry, bitters, bourbon and sweet vermouth. It's beautifully simple and versatile, with any bourbon to vermouth ratio you can imagine. You can serve it on the rocks or straight up. Hell you can even add an orange twist if you want and this classic won't flinch. But Alice's father has his own recipe and I want you to try it. It takes a page from the Perfect Rob Roy as follows:

Alice's Father's Manhattan:

  • 1oz bourbon
  • 1oz sweet red vermouth
  • 1oz dry white vermouth
  • dash Angostura bitters

Stir in an old fashioned glass on the rocks, garnish with a cherry.

That's it! Short and to the point. With all the time I saved you by not worrying you with pointless historical background on the origins of the Manhattan cocktail you now can trot over to the liquor cabinet and mix one of these up.

You'll love it. Trust me.
