Cocktail of the Week!

by Jack Email

This weeks cocktail is a silky smooth, supremely elegant libation that can be enjoyed absolutely anywhere. I first discovered it in Eric Felten's column in the Wall Street Journal and in trying to research it further have found little additional information about it. It seems to be attributed to Dale DeGroff originally, and the recipe I have here matches his exactly. I am referring to none other than the Millennium Cocktail!

The Millennium Cocktail:

In a shaker filled with ice combine

1.5 oz cognac
1.5 oz pineapple juice
1 oz triple sec (triple sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or orange curacao)
1 dash Angostura bitters

Shake and strain into a martini glass, garnish with an orange twist and a shake of ground nutmeg.

Now this is as far as I go for a cocktail, but Chuck Taggert over at the Gumbo Pages recounts that Dale DeGroff makes this cocktail with a flaming orange twist. Rather than copy and paste from Chuck, I'll just give you a link to his page here for further research and reading.
